A brief history

FAWE Girls' school-Gisozi is located in Byimana village, Musezero cell, Gisozi Sector, Gasabo District, within Kigali City. It was founded by the FAWE Rwanda Chapter with a noble mission: to support girls and young women in acquiring education as a foundation for development and leadership.

We began with modest classrooms and big dreams. In 1999, this school vision was honored and inaugurated by His Excellency Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda, marking the beginning of a journey that has touched thousands of lives today.

FAWE girls' school has two sections; ordinary level: students aged from 11-15 years and Advanced level: Students aged 16-18 years. In Advanced level students specialize in Science subject combinations: Physics-Chemistry-Mathematics (PCM), Physics-Chemistry-Biology (PCB), Mathematics-Chemistry- Biology (MCB) and Mathematics-Physics-Computer sciences (MPC). Currently senior four students are pursuing General science subjects specializing in Mathematics and Science stream 1 and Stream 2.

Twenty-five years ago, FAWE Girls' School-Gisozi was founded with a bold vision: to provide quality education to girls, to break barriers of inequality, and to cultivate a generation of empowered women leaders. Thanks to the visionary leadership of Her Excellency the First Lady of the Republic of Rwanda, Jeannette KAGAME, today, we stand as a beacon of academic excellence, innovation, and character formation.

Thousands of young women have passed through our school gates, carrying with them not only knowledge but also resilience, values, and a spirit of service.

Our esteemed school alumni are now doctors, engineers, entrepreneurs, educators, and leaders in government and civil society. They embody the FAWE spirit; to learn, to lead, and to lift others.

Since our school started in 1999, a total of 2,395 students have graduated from Senior Six proudly obtaining their Advanced Level Certificates/Diplomas from Ministry of Education and each of these young women has carried forward the FAWE spirit into universities, workplaces, and communities across Rwanda and beyond.

In 2026 we launched the Incubation Innovation Hub at FAWE Girls' School Gisozi, a space where our students will transform ideas into impactful solutions for their communities. This dynamic space will enable our students to explore technology, robotics, app development, and 3D printing to turn their ideas into real-world solutions. This hub strengthens our commitment to equipping our girls with future-ready skills and also represents our commitment to nurturing creativity, leadership, and practical skills that prepare our girls to thrive in a rapidly evolving digital world.
